Hello, I'm Ben.
I design interfaces
& interactions.

About
I’m a passionate design leader equipped to take on any challenge in the sphere of web, mobile or emerging devices. I have over a decade of design and leadership experience working on projects ranging from travel apps to cyber security tools. I like to wear different hats: UX designer, visual designer, writer, prototyper, team builder.
Right now I’m building and leading a team of UX Designers and Researchers at Google across our Chicago and Zürich offices. Prior to this, I led a small UX team at Amazon focused on shopping innovation. I’ve also spent time at a few digital agencies, and worked with various seed-stage startups. See more on LinkedIn.
Amazon
Before I joined Google in 2019, I spent 4 years at Amazon as a Principal UX Designer in the Global Search org. Our team was comprised of designers, product managers, researchers, engineers, business analysts, applied scientists, and more. I focused on working backwards from customer problems to make it easier for millions of users around the globe to find anything on the everything store. My work spanned the retail website, app, and other emerging platforms.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
While working at SapientNitro in 2015, I was a lead mobile designer on the FCA account. My team worked on a responsive redesign for all five of their primary brand websites: Jeep, Fiat USA, Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram Trucks.
I also led the design of a reusable framework for the promotional pages used during big events and vehicle launches which reduced developer costs and increased efficiency of launching web pages and microsites.

Sears
I was contracted by Sears in 2014 to do a responsive redesign of the SearsPartsDirect.com home page. I took a data driven approach to improving the overall functionality and information architecture, and improved the aesthetic of the user interface. I also put a testing plan in place for iterative improvements over time.

Nike
I spent a lot of time working with Nike as a client on a series of brand campaigns, email blasts and responsive microsites to support their central territory group. Promotions included things like the World Basketball Festival, the Nike Flash Run, and the Chicago Marathon among others.

McDonald's
During my time as Design Director at Suite Partners, I led the design of a beta-application for McDonald's to help test their new Arch Rewards mobile concept. The app integrated a rewards system, prizes, media downloads, and their famous Monopoly game.
